That's what it looks like, the team was up and coming untill they reach the first division. With their captains Filippus Sijmonds and Lowie Batenburg as the two leaders which made it all happen. Good for several wins and results they made a top team of Toma Pro CST...
But it now feels the management did hit a wall, like the saying goes, "All good things come to an end." The management is very happy with the results but we think, with all our knowlegde and expertise that the team isn't good enough for the first division in OCM. Sijmonds is the only one which is able to gain some results and is actually "to good" for the second division. Looking at the one week that Toma Pro CST was back in the second division Sijmonds won the first race at Salt Lake City.
But Sijmonds stays loyal to the management and his teammates, that's something we can't say about Batenburg. The moment he hurt that another team was interest in him he called his manager to make the deal happen. For now Lowie can't go for his own succes but he said that riding in the top division was his priority to become a better rider, hopefully he will be a great teammate as it is the best he could be at this moment.
That same thing goes for Reinout Veldkamp, a excellent rider and perfect lead-out, but not good enough to win a race in the first or second division. So he followed Lowie to Monkeys United, one of the other great Dutch teams at OCM. Which leaves us with a few riders who could make the difference for a team...
Sijmonds; good old Filuppus has a contract for two more seasons, when the age of retiring comes close he will say goodbye to Toma Pro CST to be a free rider or be a great help for a lower division team to get to the top. Just like he helped us.
Van der Valk; solid timetrialist, but like in sprinting not the best their is. He has his days of results and maybe in a lower division he could win some races for now it is hoping for the best. Still we are very proud of the rider we scouted ourselfs.
Guerini; this Italian stallion has the same problem as Van der Valk, a good time trialist but not the best their is. Luckily Alessandro has some good abillity's in flat and technique to work thing out.
Gilian Wuets; will be our future leader, the will change more and more to a team for pure cobblers and some timetrialist. This young Belgian fit's that picture perfectly, with his 22 years old he's going to be a very good cobbler ready for races like Antwerpen-Huy.
As you can read there wasn't a lot going on the last couple of seasons, but we hope that things will improve fast, not only because of Gilian but the management is also trying to bring Avery Warton to the team. This incredible cobbler should be a great teacher for Gilian.
